Former Okanagan Symphony Orchestra (OSO) Music Director Rosemary Thomson is returning to conduct its final concert of the season.
Thomson and the Okanagan Symphony Society (OSS) are embroiled in a lawsuit after she was fired as music director in November 2023.
That information became public after an internal email, intended for OSS members, was released on Dec. 6, 2023.
Thomson filed a civil suit, naming the OSS and its president Judy Burns and stage manager Timothy Watson on Dec. 21 that year.
It alleged the OSS was in breach of contract, breach of its duties, and that it failed to act in good faith.

A media release from the OSO stated “Maestro Thomson is thrilled to return to the podium to conduct the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra for the May concert series, after which she will hold the title of Conductor Emeritus.”
Bring on Beethoven, an all-Beethoven program will be performed on May 10-12 and will feature his Egmont Overture Op.84, Symphony No. 7 Op. 92 and Piano Concerto No. 5. Op. 73 “Emperor”.
The release did not state if Thompson would be returning as music director.
