A 33-year-old Penticton tradition returns to the city’s downtown core on Saturday, April 20.

The Penticton Farmers’ Market hosts several dozens of vendors on Main Street this weekend, marking the start of its 2024 season.

Every Saturday, from April 20 to Oct. 26, the event will bring road closures to the 100-block of Main Street, north of Westminster Avenue. Market runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Anyone driving in the area is reminded to slow down, watch for signage and anticipate extra congestion,” the city said in a press release, adding that road closures will last from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vendors from across the region participate in the weekly event, which has come to Penticton since 1991. It attracts an estimated 10,000 visitors every week.

According to event organizers, the market currently has a capacity of more than 90 vendor stalls.

The returns of the Penticton Farmers’ Market will be joined by a volunteer appreciation breakfast in Gyro Park and city-led Earth Week festivities later on Saturday.
